The Health Promoting Schools Association Queensland Inc.
(HPSAQ) is an incorporated association which aims to
promote and support the health promoting schools (HPS)
                   approach throughout Queensland.
Our aims:

As an independent body, the Association advocates for health promoting schools throughout Queensland by promoting:
  • the health promoting schools concept
  • a social and ecological view of health
  • a comprehensive approach to health issues in schools, consistent with the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986)
  • statewide exchanges of information, expertise and resources
  • collaboration between health related agencies, professional associations, government departments, non-government organisations, schools, tertiary institutions and local communities
  • participation and collaboration to develop healthy school policies
  • health curricula, policies and practices that integrate health, social and environmental issues
  • research related to health promoting schools
Our members:

Our members include people interested in the health and well-being of children and young people, their families and their school communities. Anybody is welcome to join HPSAQ including schools, principals, teachers, students, parents, P&C/P&F Associations, non-teaching school staff, community organisations and government departments.

Our management:

HPSAQ (previously the Queensland Health Promoting Schools Network 1992 -1998) was incorporated in 1999 and is a non-profit association managed by a voluntary Management Committee. Operating costs are met from membership fees, grants and donations.
