The Health Promoting Schools Association Queensland Inc.
(HPSAQ) is an incorporated association which aims to
promote and support the health promoting schools (HPS)
approach throughout Queensland.
Our aims:
As an independent body, the Association advocates for health promoting schools throughout Queensland by promoting:
the health promoting schools concept
a social and ecological view of health
a comprehensive approach to health issues in schools, consistent with the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986)
statewide exchanges of information, expertise and resources
collaboration between health related agencies, professional associations, government departments, non-government organisations, schools, tertiary institutions and local communities
participation and collaboration to develop healthy school policies
health curricula, policies and practices that integrate health, social and environmental issues
research related to health promoting schools
Our members:
Our members include people interested in the health and well-being of children and young people, their families and their school communities. Anybody is welcome to join HPSAQ including schools, principals, teachers, students, parents, P&C/P&F Associations, non-teaching school staff, community organisations and government departments.
Our management:
HPSAQ (previously the Queensland Health Promoting Schools Network 1992 -1998) was incorporated in 1999 and is a non-profit association managed by a voluntary Management Committee. Operating costs are met from membership fees, grants and donations.
